Childcare Programs Offered
|
We provide
full and part time childcare for children ages two through six. Pre-School
services include care during the hours of 7am - 6pm, Monday through Friday.
Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack is included. Our pre-school program's
curriculum follows an emergent curriculum which incorporates learning through
various curricular areas such as language development, reading, phonics,
science, mathematics, social studies, enrichment studies, and acquisition of
second languages. |
| Our Elementary School program is a
fairly new addition to our school. However, do not let its newness scare
you. Our grade school program has proven to be one of the best grade school
educations attainable in Brooklyn. We provide an enriched and vigorous
academic program that caters to the needs of the highly gifted student as well
as the student who needs more individualized attention from their classroom
teacher. Our children are also immersed into a curriculum that exposes
them to advanced subject materials and learning experiences. This
includes higher-level textbooks, giving oral presentations, writing book
reports, and collaborative class assignments. Upon completion of our
elementary school program, our students have the competitive edge they need
to succeed in any academic environment. For more information about any
of our elementary school programs, please call (718) 421-9581 to set up an
informational tour. |

homework completion, library programs, educational games, club programs and
computer tutorials are offered. The program runs from 3:00 - 6:30pm
at our Marlborough Location AND 3:00-6:00pm at our Bedford Location during
the academic school year; however, service is also available on special days
and weeks during the academic year when the public schools are closed for half
days, full days, and school breaks.
Our after school program picks up
children from our nearby public schools, P.S. 139, P.S. 179, P.S. 217, P.S.
152 and P.S. 315. All other students are
bussed in from their respective public and private schools. If your child's
public school does not provide bussing for your child, and you are in need of
a private transportation company, contact our office and we will be more than
happy to refer some transportation companies to you. |

It's basically, a taste of Summer Camp in the middle of the
year. During the academic year, the Board of Education has three
sessions when school is not in session : Winter recess, February recess, and
Spring
recess. Cortelyou Early Childhood Center offers mid year day camping
experiences for children ages 5 through 13. During these mid year camp stays,
students are exposed to recreational and educational experiences that will
further enrich their growth and development. Students participate in
various activities such as arts and crafts, drama, trips throughout the five
boroughs, and many more exciting fun activities and excursions.
This service
is available to interested families for a small fee that covers
trips and activities for the duration of the mid-year camp
stay. As these school breaks draw near, please feel free to inquire about various
mid-year camp details, one month prior to the Mid-Year Camp. A separate
application form is required to register. |
Summer is right around the corner
and plans must be made for your child(ren)’s summer. Enrolling your child at
Cortelyou Day Camp, should be the first thought that comes to your mind.
Cortelyou Day Camp offers the thrill and excitement of great outings, sports,
instructional swimming and club activities. All of this connected with a
learning component that promotes the growth and development of your child’s
body and mind.

Weekly Trips
Each week we expose our campers to
various places of interest throughout our city. Places which are important
for their intellectual development as a person, as well as their development
as a child. These excursions enable our campers to see, learn and experience
new places for themselves. Children between the ages of 7 and 13 will go on
trips two times per week, and children between the ages of 3 and 6, two
times per week. See tentative trip schedule.
|
 |
Swimming Program
Our seven week intensive swimming
program for campers ages 7 through 13 has proven to be very successful over
the past summers.
Twice per week for an hour they have instructed swimming lessons by certified
swimming instructors and lifeguards at the YMCA.
|
 |
Indoor Activities
On
the two or three days per week when campers are in-house, children will work
on various indoor and club activities. Some indoor activities include
drama, cooking, baking, talent shows, computer instruction, arts and crafts,
needle work, and local community outings: library, neighborhood park, fire
station, etc. Club activities may include: dance, baseball,
double-dutch, creative arts, karate, basketball, soccer, sewing, etc. . . The
list of offered clubs for this summer session will be available the evening of
camp orientation. Also, there is always revision of math and reading
skills on in-house camp days as well as activities that promote a higher order
of thinking. Just because we are having tons of fun, does not mean the
learning process to end. However, in addition to all of the above,
there's still more.
