Arts & Craft: Advanced - This class is geared towards campers who have a knack for artistic expression.  Campers will explore the world of ceramics, jewelry-making, drawing and painting.  (SR) – Mornings Only

 

Arts & Craft: Basic - This course is designed to let campers imagination run wild as they are introduced to a wide variety of hands on experiences that will enhance their creativity and help them develop an appreciation for art.  Activities will include painting, sketching, assembling crafts and more. (JR) – Morning & Afternoon

Cooking Class for Kids - Campers will have a fun experience learning basic cooking techniques.  Each class they will prepare a different type of food.  They will also learn how to follow simple cooking recipes, and learn kitchen safety tips.  (JR) – Mornings Only (SR) – Afternoons Only

Director’s StudioSo you want to produce movies or be a T.V. star?  This class covers topics on the world of movie production and an introduction to acting.  Campers will watch and analyze movies; see a stage play; and practice reciting monologues; writing one-act scenes and more.   (SR) – Afternoons Only.   

Fitness Fun - This challenging class will incorporate aerobic training, flexibility training, resistance training, muscle conditioning, healthy eating, competitive games and other fun filled activities.  (JR) – Morning & Afternoon

Game Wizard - If you like to play games or would like to learn a new game, this is the class for you.  We will offer competitions and instructions for games such as mastermind, monopoly, battleship, chess, and other exciting games.  Some electronic gaming systems will also be available at this time. (JR/SR) - Afternoon

Health & Beauty - This class teaches campers about appearance and how appearance affects other's perception of them.  Therefore, being well groomed is an integral part of maintaining a good image.  Campers will learn age appropriate tips on grooming, including nails, skin and hair care.  Good Manners and practices of etiquette are also discussed in this class.  This class is mostly focused on the health and wellness aspects of "beauty" rather than superficial factors. (SR) – Afternoons Only.

Instructional Swimming - An intensive swimming program for children ages 6-15.  Two hours per week your child will have an opportunity for an hour long instructed swimming lesson by certified YMCA swimming instructors and lifeguards.  Requirements: swimsuit, swim cap and towel. (JR) – Afternoons Only.

 

Journalists for the C.T. - This class is for campers who would like to work for the Cortelyou Times Newspaper.  Campers will be responsible for writing short stories, editorials, interviewing campers and counselors, covering breaking stories, taking photographs of summer camp events and more.  Journalists on the Cortelyou Times News Team will be equipped with cameras, pen, paper and access to the Computer Lab.  To be a Journalist, campers should be 8 years of age or older.  (Jr/Sr) – Mornings Only.

KarateThis class is for beginners and intermediate Karate students.  Campers will have fun while learning from Karate Black belts, self discipline and self defense techniques.  When signing up specify your camper’s level: Beginner or Intermediate.  Campers must have a dojo (karate uniform).  (JR) – Mornings Only; (SR) – Afternoons Only.

Performing Arts: Dance - This class is geared towards those who enjoy different types of dances.  This class will be beneficial to dancers of all levels.   Children will be exposed to modern dance, hip-hop, etc.  This class promises non-stop excitement!!  Campers should wear loose fitting attire.  (JR) – Mornings Only.

Quilt Making & More . . .  - Campers will learn basic sewing techniques while learning how to make quilts, pillows, bags, and more.  Campers will get to show off their pieces at Cortelyou’s End of Camp Show.            (SR) - Afternoon

Sports - The campers will have the opportunity to participate in various sports.  Sports such as track & field, soccer, kick ball, etc.  Camp instructors will teach and encourage the steps of learning each of these games, how to correctly play the game, self-confidence, team-playing, visualizations, breathing, focus, concentration, and setting goals (JR & SR- Mornings Only)

Webpage Development – This class will introduce your camper to the world of webpage development.  Campers will learn how to create, design and host their very own webpage.  Campers will also learn the basics of setting up their own Blog.  (SR) – Morning & Afternoon
