Dear Parent or Guardian: Welcome to an exciting school year at Cortelyou Academy! My name is Lucretia Johnson, and I will be your child’s teacher. I am very excited to be joining your child in grade four this academic school year 2008-2009! This will be a super year for your child! Your child will be engaged in lots of exciting activities! There are lots to do in a short period of time. However, your child can do well with your assistance and cooperation. Reading and writing are important components of the curriculum. Please make sure your child reads about 20 minutes every day and write about what he or she has learned. I strongly suggest that you encourage and work with your child daily. The New York State Examinations are very important. You will be notified further about these examinations. I will do my best to help your child prepare for these examinations and reach his or her full potential. But, in order to have a safe, secure and happy place to learn, we must have rules. Your child must follow the rules. The rules will be sent home. Please sign and return the classroom rules when you have received it. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call, send a note, drop in or send me an email.
